I have come to the conclusion that the earth is a living being. Not in the sense that it thinks or feels but in the sense it has all components necessary to be considered alive. Blood flows beneath it's surface (Oil) ,
it supports life in and around it, it has an immune system and an apparatus vital to it's survival as a functioning life supporting planet. I have no doubt that the planet lives even if only metaphorically.
The Gaia-theory considers the Earth a living being, not in a pantheistic sense, but as a system made of smaller systems. The Earth is made of biosystems, ecosystems, populations, comunities and individuals just like individuals are made of apparatus, organs, tissue, cells. Cells are considered to be alive, even if just the building block of life. Why, then, shouldn't the Earth be considered to be alive since it's composed of building blocks (individuals) just like us?
If the earth farts and splits the surface and shocks it we call it a earth quake yet it is natural for us to fart why not the earth. If we are going to survive on this living being we must take into effect the chance that this being does not want us here and we must live with the earth not abuse it! If we abuse it the earth is not going to want us on it! At the core there is oil that we think is limited but in reality it is the blood of the earth and will be regenerated as we take it. That is of course if we do not take to much of it. If all oil is gone this planet would die and we all would die if we lost all of our blood.
I don't think most people understand that this earth is living and we must contribute to the healthy life of the planet. Understand what we are doing and how we do it before it is to late! Love one another and give praise to Mother Earth!
